Voices of Turkana

[Verse 1] Under the sun of the dry Dry land Promises written in the dust and sand We were told tomorrow would be bright But nights are long Still no light Roads of hope They fade away Youth still waiting day by day Leadership speaks But we don’t feel Empty words Unreal deal [Chorus] Oh Turkana cry Let the truth be known We’re tired of walking this road alone Raise your voice high From the lake to the stone Oh Turkana cry Let the truth be known [Verse 2] Broken wells and empty pans Children tracing maps in sand Counting plans on our fingers All undone Every year Another one You shake hands Sign one more page Still the hunger Still the rage We remember what you said that day Every promise Blown away [Chorus] [Bridge] Call our names Don’t turn away We are here We are here We remain From the wind on the thorn-tree plain Hear us say Hear us say Never again [Chorus]
